CHOSEN PEOPLE


Not only chosen people, they’ve been frozen
in time by Sinai laws that made them docen-
tophilic, thinking there should come from Zion
a Torah that the gentiles are not buyin’
unless emasculated by a prepuce,
retained by them, rejected by the Hebrews,
who think the cause of His divine decision
to choose the Jews was, oddly, circumcision.

Inspired by a pre-opera talk by Paul G. Floyd,, who pointed out that the third act of Verdi’s “La Traviata” ends conventionally, unlike the other three odds, with all the chosen cast frozen, singing a finale in a grand finale.
